So, what does a zip line, teen camp and Exodus 4:12-13 have in common??

camp

I had the privilege of doing a guest post for Wendy van Eyck of ilovedevotionals.com.

So what does a zip line, teen camp and Exodus 4:12-13 have in common?

Exodus 4:12-13
“Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.” But he said, “Oh, my Lord, please send someone else.”
Thanks, but NO. I never even wanted to do this anyway.
It had come to this–the only way off this stupid obstacle course was a stinking ZIP LINE. Well, just go ahead and chop my head off, because I’d rather DIE than take that leap.
END. OF. STORY.
Well, not really. The highlight of the Youth Retreat weekend was the gospel, but there was one “special’ event on the schedule-a “Recreation Area.” What I didn’t know was that we were about to risk life and limb 50 feet up in the air on a course all in the name of “team building.” Yeah, more like “Team Save Christy’s LIFE…”

  1. Loved your story:) It made me laugh out loud! I can imagine what I would’ve been thinking if my husband gave me a ‘little push’. I may not have handled it as well as you did! Heehee:)

    • It was literally so bad I could barely move ( w/ the exception of the convulsions from the hysterical crying! Lol)
But any other situation, I’m with you! I might have smacked him!! The kids said “Whoooa, he’s in the DOG HOUSE!” Ha!
Thanks for stopping by, Kristine! 😊

  2. Wonderful post Christy! I love how the Lord uses us when circumstances seem completely out of our control. This post got me thinking that we really have to surrender it all to Him and are not control of the things we think we are! God is control and He has a plan for every moment. The embarrassing and tear-filled moments are times when we call out to the Lord in all honesty and openness. I cannot help but think the Lord has a sense of humour too! 🙂 Thank you for sharing this post and it is great to see God using you in this way! 🙂

    • Ruth,
You are so right! God DOES have a sense of humor! Except it is funny now… Not in that moment! Ha!
I was completely broken before Him and yes, in that tender time He reached out and rescued me. My knowledge and trust was deepened by it!
Thanks for stopping by! I have been wondering how you are! I pray God strengthens you and guides you in all truth! 😊 hugs, sister!!

      • I am encouraged to hear that you were deepened in your relationship with Him in that experience! I have been very busy recently – a dear friend of mine is in hospital and his wife is staying with me. It has been hard to keep up my blogging! I have had a difficult day today emotionally with regards to job prospects, but have spent some time in the Word and it has calmed me somewhat. There are just days when weeping is all I can do at the moment! God bottles every tear… I dread to think how many bottles H has of mine! 😉 Hugs back 😀

  3. What a great story, Christy. God never wastes an experience in this life. He is always willing to use our good, bad and ugly to teach us or others something, and to bring glory to Himself. So glad you shared this today at #GraceTruth. BTW, I probably would have been the same way about a zip line. Never been on one…yet. Blessings to you.
